Mollenhauer’s 3D Surveying group has undertaken a wide variety of projects ranging from historical preservation to adaptive re-use and commercial rehabilitation.

The following are just a few examples of notable recent projects:

Riverside Municipal Museum
Riverside, California

The City of Riverside, California, recently commissioned an historical structure report of its Municipal Museum to facilitate decision-making regarding environmental conditions, pest controls, and seismic improvements.

Mollenhauer undertook a measured building survey to develope accurate digital 2D and 3D as-builts to be used as the foundation for long-term strategic planning and management. This was an essential part of the assessment of the structure’s current condition.

St. Vincent de Paul Church
Los Angeles, California

Laser scanning allowed intricate detail to be captured without the use of lifts or scaffolding. Historic Resources Group of Pasadena, California recently completed a Historic Structure Report for St. Vincent de Paul Church, a City of Los Angeles Historic Cultural Landmark. Modeled after the St. Prisca Church in Taxco, Mexico, St. Vincent de Paul is an excellent example of the Churrigueresque architectural style.

Mollenhauer’s 3D Surveying team was engaged by the Historic Resources Group to provide accurate 3D as built data to capture the precise geometry of the Church dome. Laser scanning was able to capture the intricate detail of the dome from the ground without the need for attaching targets to the structure and avoiding unnecessary scaffolding or lift apparatus. The data was referenced to an existing survey of the main body of the church performed a few years earlier.

Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center, South Campus
Downey, CA

Three Mollenhauer teams surveyed and modeled 40 buildings in 12 weeks. Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center is internationally recognized for its excellence in rehabilitation medicine, consistently ranking among the leading rehabilitation hospitals according to the U.S. News and World Report. The campus dates back to 1888 when indigent patients from the Los Angeles County Hospital were relocated there. It is currently owned and operated by Los Angeles County.

Mollenhauer was commissioned by Sapphos Environmental Inc, on behalf of the County of Los Angeles to perform full measured building surveys of over 40 structures on the Rancho Los Amigos South Campus. This survey was considered critical base-data for all sub-consultants contributing to the historic structures report of the entire site.
